Paris, France = Godetia Bottae Spach tyke, two specimens, labeled by Spach, one: Godetia Bottae Nob. (Spach, 1839) Californie. M. Botta. Stem a bit coarsish below, few remote fls. Petals 2.7 cm. long, 2.1 cm. broad, truncate. Calyx united and turned to one side. Leaves narrowed to a petiole like base, 5 mm. wide, 7 cm. long, these being the extreme measurements; remotely and obscurely denticulate or at least minutely denticulate. One Peducle 1.5 cm. long, the one fl. attached to spm. apparently with no or scarcely any peduncle. The other spm: peduncle 1 cm. long, one bud nodding, ::::::::: Feb. 8, 1906. the other ascending, abruptly pointed, the latter 2.5 cm. long. Calyx tube about 2 mm. long. Ovary slender, linear, obviously canescent but no more than that. The second spm is labeled by Spach "Godetia Bottae Spach" and in another hand on the same label "Californie" -- Monterey, M.P.E. Botta, 1829" Flowers few and remote like the other. -- i.e. 1st spm. Stigmas broadly oblong, united at base. A lower pod still, 2.5 cm. long, Stigmas 2 mm. long. Pubescence not obvious to naked eye.
