Trans. of Philadelphia. wh.[which] I shall forward to you a copy of in about 10 days from this time to the care of Dr. Booth.  It is very incorrectly printed and I fear some of the generic names will be anticipated. x x x I have lately received a letter from my friend, Mr. Wm. Gambel, collecting for me in w. California dated Pueblo    :::::::::  May 20, 1906 los Angeles, but in April of last year.  he is returning by way of Boston (Mass.th) has been visiting some of the islands off the coast ad will no doubt have some new things.  He will be about arriving in the course of this or the next month.  As well as plants he has collected many bird-skins wh. will many of them probably prove new ad curious.  Yours truly, Thos. Nuttall. [Hooker Corr. vol. 63, p. 335.] Another reference to Gambel on p. 339. Long-Preston, Craven, Yorkshire, Jun 22, 1844. x x x x The Simmondsia I had formerly named Dicladus viscoides but the specific name of Californica is perhaps as good.
