Title:
Jepson Field Book volume 10 page 2
Description:
::::::::: Berkeley to Vacaville, May 2, 1903.  - The wooded covering of the smooth round slopes overhanging Carquinez sts in the south is Quercus agrifolia. The Benicia Hills are now very beautiful with their scattered growth of oak and just below them, at their bases (but not on the level) the round dense clumps of the Buckeyes. This is always a favorite spot with them. They look now like great balls of foliage -- now arrayed in vernal royality -- Look up at the great range of the mts. east from Santa  Clara Valley -- the dark hue in the gulches; a band of black, following the gully or sometimes spreading out irregularly
