Description:
School Days -Friday afternoon exhibitions. _Morgan, - Morgan the Raider, And Morgan_s terrible men  __ They are riding down the glen._  _The Boy stood on the burning desk._ The boy Casabianca was the son of the captain of the French flagship Orient at the Battle of the Nile when the French fleet was totally defeated by the British fleet under Nelson. The French flagship captain was killed in action, the flagship took fire and blew up, but the lad Giacomo Casabianca, not knowing of his father_s death, refused to leave with the crew and so perished. Cf. Time, Feb. 17, 1941, p. 30.  Cont. from bottom p. 173.  of our Hosackia species, Hosackia subpinnata and Hosackia brachycarpa (Lotus humstratus) and Hosackia parviflora Bth. (Lotus micranthus Bth.). At length I discovered that was an early day Professor of Botany in Columbia College, wrote a memoir of the famous physician Casper Wistar, for whom Thomas Nuttall, a botanical explorer in California in 1836, named the genus Wistaria, a beautiful climbing vine of gardens, much used in California. ::::::::: The Old College Bell -W. J. Stevens was the first teacher who seemed up-to-date and clever in relation to the great world beyond our mountains. At school assembly he read or recited library tid-bits. One was _Punch, Brothers, Punch, [Punch] with Care, Punch in the presence of the Passengaire._ Apparently this was by Mark Twain since I find an item of the poem in a book dealers catalog as originally occurring in Atlantic Monthly, vol. 37, no. 220 (Feb., 1876) under the title _A Literary Nightmare._ -After Stevens was Carson, a Canadian. After Carson the principal was Foster. My classmates, Frank and Ralph Platt and Effrie Eversole, as they were finishing the school course, were encouraged by Foster to _Graduate_ in May. They wished me to _graduate_ with them. I refuse, cont. p. 178
