St. Helena, hills eas Apr. 23, 1915. ---------- - "Coconino" = Brodiaea capitata says Edward Haskell, on account of the little coconut or hairy corm. No. 6235. Trifolium variegatum Nutt. Forming a close dense turf T. variegatum Nutt. var. pauciflorum McDer. No. 6236. Rhus diversiloba Leaves flat, small. Petals 4, 5, 6 in same panicle, mostly 5, many 6, a few 4. Pistil small but always present. No. 6237. Rhus diversiloba Leaves crinkly, the sides turned upwards from the midrib. Flowers as in the preceding, the corolla variable (cont. p. 33. ::::::::: - Cont. from p. 10, running head. Somewhere I have put down a note interpreting the meaning of this name (which is Spanish) as gold, but derived from the form bolsa. The term without much doubt is really balsa, in Spanish, a pool, as transferred to English it is defined as a flat-floored and spalled [?] bolson desert valley which drains to a playa.
