St. Helena, hills east. ----------  No. 6230. Rhus diversiloba T. & G. Large leaved. Anthers yellow. Stamens 5, filaments dilated at base. Pistils present, small. Petals 5. No. 6231. Rhus diversiloba T. & G. Same as preceding but leaves small. Pistils present, a little smaller than in preceding. Stigmas minutely crested with yellow. - Orthocarpus purpurascens = Grandmother's Paint Brush. The name Owl's Clover is very appropriate, the two dots between the folds making the eyes, the sacs swelling into the body of the owl ::::::::: Apr. 22, 1915 ----------  which has its head drawn down in cold weather. - Meadow Sweet is an importation and is a geographical "anachronism"  If it must be "sweet" let it be Hill Sweet. No. 6232. Trifolium tridentatum Lindl. var. segetum McDer. No. 6233. Trifolium No. 6234. Sedum [= Parvisedum] pumilum Bth. Petals linear-oblong, acute, pale yellow. Stamens 2/3 as long petals. Calyx-lobes triangular-acute. - My niece Dorris Rellet [?], Mrs. D.O. Hunt and a young Mr. Haskell came on the walk today.
