Indio to Thousand Palm Ca_on Along the face of the base of the mt. slope in a horizontal band as straight as a string grow a line of palms which I fotograf. It is remarkable how straight they are disposed. - Atriplex hymenlytra - Acacia gregii No. 6041. Juncus acutus L. Det. F.V.C.  Juncus acutus var. sphaerocarpus Engelm. Palm Ca_on next east of Thousand Palms Ca_on where we had lunch. - Sporobolus airoides. Same sp. as at Barstow and Independence  Horses had a fine time on its heavy clumps in the Palm Ca_on just east of Thousand Palm Ca_on. :::::::::  22 May 1914 - Went up into One Thousand Palms Ca_on.  Beautiful running streams of water.  Camped at lower point of grove, but tramping around soon spied the fine cieneaga [sic] in the arroyo bottom 1/5 mile above, towards upper part of lower grove.  This proved a beautiful little green world and we moved up there - the valley - like floor of the arroyo was all green with salt grass (Distichlis spicata), Arundo no. 6044 and sedges.  The horses had a fine time.  The immediate sky line was marked by the lofty heads of palm trees while a mesquite-covered sand dune suggested new growth of blue blossom in a
