Warren's Well, c. 2500 ft. Received following directions at Warrens Well for road to Indio from Twnty-nine Palms:-  Climb up from 29 Palms to summit, then flat, then drop down into a deep valley = Pleasant Valley = due east & west s.w. then in ca_on west, general course = s.w. Danger of getting off is on road to summit.  Follow cattle tracks nearly to summit, then straight on up  to summit.  Cattle went to right, keep  to left straight up to summit, then about on level southerly on summit.  Look s. = Black Mt. running e & w, go round west pt of Black Mt a mile from it = a little knoll of black lava, little round knoll sets out by inself, :::::::::  15 May 1914. (1/4 file around it = size of the knoll.) Pleasant Valley = south side of _ Pi_on well _ [Drawing follows] Pleasant Vall up slope into mouth of canon take right Black Mt. o = little round knoll _ Pi_on Well = 1 1/2 mile  up from mouth of ca_on. _ = County Well.  - Krameria parvifolia Benth. is a good browse; so said Swartout and I notice that the grey mare favors  it.  She stands by a bush & nibbles a long time
