Sonoma Valley 175 ft. Cont. from prev. page. no 5804. Floerkea douglasii, cont. Stamens alt. [alternate] petals with a gland at base on back, i.e. the filament swollen into a gland or enlarged into a nectariferous swelling.  Petals over half yellow, i.e. the upper 2/5 white, strongly notched at apex! -cont. Stamen counts are as follows: 16,14,14,16.  Achenes 4,5, o 6, not rugose or wrinkled at this stage!  Lateral lobes of leaves not notched or obscurely - Is this distinct? from R. lobbii. No. 5806. Callitriche bolanderi? Stamen solitary, in same axil with pistil, the latter 4-lobed at earliest stage (in anthesis) i.e. with the 4 lobes equably divergent in a circle.  The lobes soon approximate in pairs, the pairs look like  :::::::::  11 April, 1914. single lobes with a marked groove down the back.  Styles 2, rather long.  Pistil often ? solitary in axil, in either case there are two lateral bracts, whitish and inflated or spongy.  Probably their function is to keep the flo. [flower] just above water for anthesis.  The pistil appears to be in the axil between the two bracts with the stamen in front of it, i.e. next the axis.  The 2 styles are 5 times the length of the ovary.  The most mature fruits are pedicellate, i.e. on pedicls 1/4 line long but might fall under "sessile or very nearly so" Bot. Cal. = ?C. verna.  The fruits, so far as the have  ripened, do not agree with my descrip. of C. palustris, altho otherwise agreeing.
