[feet] 2 in. h [inches high]; 4 in. [inches] in diam. [diameter] at 1/2 [0.5] ft. [feet] above ground. No. 2--7 ft [feet] 7 in. h. [inches high]; 1 ft. [foot]: 1 in. circ. [inch circumference] at 3 inches above g. [ground]. Feb. 8, 1914 Oakland Hills, head of San Leandro Creek; near Thorn Notch. No. 5717 Arctostaphylos glandulosa Eastw. Stump sprouts. Oakland Hills. This grows on the yellow shale, same formation as Moraga Ridge. No. 5718 Arctostaphylos glandulosa Eastw. ::::::::: Berkeley, Feb. 1914. Arctostaphylos, no. 5711. See p. 48. Mr. Matthews brings in material of Arctostaphylos glandulosa, i.e. same sp. [species] on Moraga Ridge, Oakland Hills, and North Berkeley and says it stump sprouts vigorously on Mt. Tamalpais. He also brings in good A. canescens, Mt.T. [Mount Tamalpais] and says it does not stump sprout. Baccharis pilularis, commonly 8 ft. h. [feet high] in Kohler Canon. Garrya elliptica, 12 ft. h. [feet high] Oakland Hills. Arctostaphylos andersonii Gray 6 ft. h. [feet high], 3 ft. [feet] 9 in. circ. [inches circumference] at 1/2 ft. [0.5 feet] above ground. Rather fine tree, cleared around, on east slope near summit a little south of Kohler Pass.
