The extreme form, i.e. natural type. No. 5701. Arctostaphylos bracteosa (DC) Abrams. Shrub 3 or 4 ft. h. [feet high] forming the dense chaparral on the sandy high-lying slopes of Del Monte Heights. Less typical. No. 5702. Arctostaphylos pumila Nutt. Low, 4 to 8 in. [inches] high, almost mat-like on the ground. Very distinctive and not at all like A. hookeri in appearance. Berries brick-red.
