Pratville to Keddie Scotch thistle. Left Greenville at 1:00 oclock, saw Tayorsville in a (s.e.) corner of the Indian valley, prettily situated, just before reaching Crescent Mills. Next Indian Falls (formerly Shoo Fly) which is on the Indian Creek, Branch of the Feather North Fork. Then along this stream, crossing it and passing to Spanish Creek (its tributary) to Keddie on the W. P. R. R. Crescent Mills is a small decayed hamlet with a small general store and post office and two saloons. It once had a flour mill which supplied ::::::::: June 15, 1910 Greenville and the surrounding country. At Keddie we found a store where we bought a few things for our camp from a very surly storekeeper. One can never understand why a man who has things to sell should value surliness so highly. But then if it were not so this man would not be a storekeeper in Keddie. Just above us was a permanent camp. A woman a little past middle age was there, a face that had seen hardships a kindly old sould indeed, who took a most friendly interest in us, gave us a plate of cookies! ("she had never made such poor ones") which were most excellent and a dish of stewed peaches!
