Description:
Berkeley ---------- just above point of insertion. - L. hassei Greene. Cult. by Brandegees from original plant. They say = L. richii cf. Hall, S.Cal. 1903. - L. andersonii Gray, Drake, Randsburg. Fils. inserted near middle cor. tube, very slightly hairy. Try out this: Cor. tube much narrower than calyx at calyx summit...L. andersonii Cor. tube as large as calyx at calyx summit.........L. torreyi - L. californicum. San Diego. Cleveland. Stamens densely short-hairy at base! Todos Santos, Anthony 211. Densely short-hairy tuft a little below middle of fils! - L. cooperi. Victorville, Hall, no. ::::::::: 25 Jan. 1913 ---------- 6194, fils inserted high on tube, in throat! the free partition short and glabrous! Tube cor. pubescent below. My diag. based on this and also Halls 6031. - L. parishii. San Bernardino Mesa, Parish, Apr. 1885. fils lightly pubescent below, inserted low down. Brandegee's Vallecitos, Colo. Des., Apr. 10, 1896 is undoubtedly the same as to part of the sheet, having the the char. calyx lobes, pub. etc short corolla. The other part of the sheet is L. andersonii beyond doubt. All the material on the sheet looks as if it came off one shrub and I've no doubt it did. Perhaps L. parishii had better not go as a formal var. of andersonii. - L. torreyi. My diag. based on my 4782.
