Gabilan Valley to Picacho, 180 ft. ---------- No. 5291. Parkinsonia Torreyana seedlings. [= Cercidium floridum] Milpitas  Wash. - Red Rock, a great block of rock on east side river, protecting Hogue Ranch, facing 2 blocks on west side, the blocks 60 to 100 ft. high, with vertical walls. - The Hogues say that they kill the wild burros in the hills and jerk the meat for chicken feed. - Gabilan Rock, the east or Arizona rock of Red Rock Gate. Gavilan Valley, the Hogue ranch. - Go [?] to left (Ariz. shore) of Cerriso Rock, 1/3 mile below Red Rock Gate. Reef to right and boats have been last there. - We pass Barrier Islands, a group of rocks lying directly across stream in a row. - Picacho, just ahead, lying on the the river opp. Picacho Peaks, ::::::::: 3 Nov. 1912 ---------- the great pinnacle landmark seen from far up the river. Picacho was destroyed by the great flood of last spring, the adobes mostly melting under the strain. The hamlet is only partially rebuilt of wooden shacks. It is a pathetic deserted mining village, the pop. mostly mexican. Camped Picacho at 4.10 and went on next a.m. at 9.00. No. 5292. Datura discolor Bernh. Corolla white, with indigo flush in throat, 4 in. long, 1 3/4 in. broad limb. Sinuses of corolla represented by angles almost as prominent as cor-lobes, and marked by slender subulate productions. Fruit with reflexed collar and woolly-pub. spines. Picacho. - Monument Cactus -- a few (3) individuals miles below Picacho, Ariz. shore. Capsule nodding!
