Milpitas, Imperial Co. ---------- measure another tree: 8 ft. 2 in. at 1 ft. (smallest part of 4 ft. trunk), 46 ft. h. Cal. shore. - Left camp at 10.10. Camp in wash near some rounded hills 40 ft. h. projecting into river, abut 2 mi. south of the first hills we came to on the Cal-shore at south end of Palo Verde Valley. Yesterday aft. we landed on the Ariz. shore at Cibola Landing & walked through the Arrow-weed & Willow to the cult.  farms lying in the bottom behind. The corn stood in the fields, 8 ft. h., with watermelons and squash between. It reminded me of descriptions of the Missouri River bottom. We took a half-dozen "roasting ears" and went back to our ::::::::: Sunday, 3. Nov. 1912 ---------- boat, not having the luck to speak to any one.  Our camp was really just or nearly east or perhaps a little s. of east of the prominent peak_ described yesterday as the first landmark on the west side of the river coming south and at base of its spur.  Today is a perfect fleckless balmy day, the sun showing before it came the wonderful clearness and luxury of the day. ---------- _ Milpitas Mt. ---------- No. 5284. Corolla a dull white or slightly greenish white, constricted at orifice, the throat below a little bulbous-dilated; proper tube short, the stamens inserted at its summit, the anthers standing just below the orifice.
