Jepson Field Book volume 26 page 0
Description:
No. 5139 ::::::::: Vacaville, Aug. 10, 1912. - Valley Oak acorn crop. Ralph Platt says: Two oak trees at our old ranch had, I should think, at least 6 or 7 barley sacks full in the year we first came to the ranch. I had never seen them before and was much impressed. - H.A. Greene in litt [?] says: Coast Live Oak, 200 lbs; Cal. Black Oak 300 lbs, acorns. -- Aug. 11, 1912. ---------- - Arctostaphylos pumila vs. nevadensis. H.A. Greene sent me Arc. leaf spm. without loc. and I decided to call it A. pumila. Later he told me it was from Mt. Shasta! So it is A. nevadensis!! I think the two may have to go as one species unless better difs. can be found than are now known. -- See Greene's letter of Sept. 10, 1912.
