Cypress Point to  - Quercus agrifolia -- very interesting wind-blown Live Oaks on low flat plateaus just about 1 mile before reaching Pebble Beach, going west. See sketches 11 & 12 pp. back. - Monterey Pine, 2 large trees in woods, by roadway, in swale, 1/2 mile from entrance gate (to 17 mile Drive) on Monterey-Sur Road. Circ. 11 ft. 2 in. at 4 ft., 105 ft. h.  "    13 ft. 8 in. at " "  , 115 "  " Bark of first tree very roughly broken, 4 1/2 inches thick. - Slender trees of Monterey Pine in dense stands often 100 ft. high. ::::::::: Pacific Grove, Mar. 6, '08.  - Monterey Pine at Pebble Beach, cut down (sawed). Diameter 2 ft. 9 inches at 1 1/2 feet. 42 rings _ 5 = 47 years. Rapid growth as shown by the big rings, which are mostly 1/2 in. broad. Maximum 7/8 in. in 15th year. Last 10 years slow growth 1/5 in. or 1/4 in. in breadth. Native tree. - Most Monterey Pine 40 to 60 feet high and 1 to 2 feet trunk diameter. No. 2997. Pinus radiata, in fl. Pebble Beach.
