Mt. Diablo [Apr. 26, 1907] Pinus Coulteri. This is not on the side hills anywhere about Deer Flat. From Deer Flat we worked into every canyon eastward on the basin of Mitchell Creek. It was a hard long pull, working our way over spurs, through brush, and across canyons. Extensive burning out a year or so previously made it a little easier. Of course I did not examine every pine tree in the basin but I saw no pine tree that did not even at a distance look like Digger Pine. Worked as far eastward as the divide looking down into the creek heading in towards North Peak, i.e. Donner Creek. ::::::::: [Mt. Diablo] Apr. 26, 1907 No. 2641. Streptanthus hispidus Gray. Petals purplish, lower pair diverging more than upper pair and more rotately spreading. Low plants, but few seen, on triturated shale out cropping. No. 2642. Juniperus Californica Wats. Bush reclining or forming a low mound 3 to 10 feet high and 10 to 20 feet broad. Head of Mitchell near saddle divide at head of creek heading into saddle of Mt. Diablo. -Rhamnus crocea ilicifolia, 6 to 8 ft. h. [feet high] but tree-like with very distinct trunk 1/2 [half] total height.
