Jepson Field Book volume 27 page 194
Yosemite Valley to Berkeley, ----------  asks Hall or myself to identify them, after which his scraps are thrown away. I find Cowles very genial and walked from Big Trees, the Mariposa Grove, down to the hotel, yesterday.    Before reaching Glacier Pt. we left the stages and ascended to the summit of Sentinel Dome, the characteristic rock xerophytes on its summit aroused the greatest interest. The next morning, Thursday, Sept. 11, we left the hotel at Glacier Point and started by trail for Nevada Fall by Illilouette Trail. Engler walked the whole distance altho by the time he reached Nevada Fall he was rather tired and by the time ::::::::: Sept. 11-13, 1913 ----------  he got to the foot of the trail below Vernal Fall he was glad to get into the light spring wagon which was waiting for him and one or two others.    We lunched at Camp Curry, took stage for El Portal and were forced to spend the night there, thus losing another daylight day about the Bay region. The next day was a long tedious hot dusty day on the train and we arrived at Berkeley and went to Hotel Shattuck arriving at 4.30. This was scarcely time for the dinner & meeting of the California Botanical Society at Hotel Oakland but we managed to get together by 7:00, and filed into the private dining room.
