San Bernardino  Mill Creek Canon ---------- San B. Val. 1000-1750 ft.  No. 5587. Arctostaphylos glauca [Lindl.] Taken from a large individual (small tree) 22 ft. h. and 3 ft. 3 in. circ. Berries full grown but green. Old berries of a previous year from the ground. Stone globose, solid, not separating into nutlets. Berries very glandular sticky on surface but not hairy. Mill Creek Canon. No. 5588. Arctostaphylos (pringlei) drupacea McBr. Low broad shrub 3 ft. h. and 5 ft. broad. San B. val. east end, in Mill Creek bottom. (= A. drupacea McBr.) No. 5589. [= O. occidentalis var. v.] The common Opuntia in the San Bernardino Valley on sandy mesas and flats. Flowers lemon-yellow, or pink or reddish, -- all one color on one plant. The yellow is one species, and the pink-red another acc. Griffith says Parish. I can see no differences vegetatively in the plants and the flowers look alike save for color. Parish is of a similar mind. No. 5594. Salvia carduacea Bth. Very showy when in full flower. Mesas at San B. No. 5595. [Eleocharis montana R. & S.] Sedge. San B. No. 5596. Galium  Woody stems. 3 1/2 ft. h. Sepals 4, apiculate. Fls. greenish, apparently perfect. San B. -- Waterman Canon. No. 5596. Hosackia [Lotus] strigosa Nutt.
