Jepson Field Book volume 17 page 56b
San Benito Co. [County]  follows San Carlos Creek Canyon into the foothills and out onto the plain. According to the Panoche Quadrangle San Carlos Creek changes its name to Silver Creek which comes out into the Panoche. I assume that we followed down this creek. It was and is, apparently, the only way we could have gone; but the word Panoche does not occur in my notes; and in after years, when going through the Panoche I had no realization that this mouth of the Panoche was that. We had passed through on our way to White's Bridge over the vast level of the plain, when coming down from New Idria and San Benito Peak. -Jan. 19, 1938. ::::::::: cont. Lupinus densiflorus Bth.
