John Colman field notes on the algae of St. Helena Island | University and Jepson Herbaria Archives, University of California, Berkeley

In 1945 John Colman, University of Sheffield, spent 3 months on St. Helena Island studying the fisheries of the island for the Colonial Office. While on the island he collected along the shoreline  and in depths down to about forty 75 meters, in order to obtain some idea of the natural resources of the sea around the island. His marine algae collections representing in this notebook were sent to Dr. George F. Pappenfuss at the University of California, Berkeley. His studies are reported in the following article:
