Jepson Field Book volume 1 page 52
Description:
Berkeley, plants collected.  - Microcala quadrangularis Griseb. Boulder country northwest of North Berkeley (station), Apr. 15, 1896. = the present Thousand Oaks district. The afternoon I found them, the flowers were closed. The species is common here. ::::::::: 1896.  - Quercus densiflora. Pope Valley road, just beyond divide from Angwin's, Feb. 23, 1896.  Berkeley Hills. - Quercus agrifolia in tree form. Q. wislizenii in scrub form near Sugar Loaf Peak. The limit line between these two species if worked out and map-drawn on a sheet of the Coast Ranges would be highly interesting.  Aug. 8, 1896 Pacific Grove and Point Lobos.  Aug. 10, 1896 Monterey, Carmel Mission, Carmel River, Pt. Lobos, Cypress Pt.
