Name: Norris, Daniel H. (1933-)

Historical Note: Daniel H. Norris is a noted American bryologist and expert on the California bryoflora. He received his Ph.D. in 1964 from the University of Tennesse and taught at Catonsville Community College in Maryland before being hired as assistant professor of botany at Humboldt State University, California. He taught at Humboldt until his retirement in 1991.  In 1993 he transferred his extensive bryological collection (over 109,000 sepcimens) to the Herbarium fo the University of California, Berkeley where he became a research associate. Here he teaches bryophyte workshops for the Jepson Herbarium and United State Forest Service. He published many papers throughout his career and was honored for his work with an honorary PhD at the 350th anniversary of the University of Helsinki, Finland.
