Brief Description: This collection contains materials relating to Carl A. Purpus's work as a botanical collector in Mexico. The collection consists primarily of letters from Carl A. Purpus to the Brandegees written between 1895 and 1924. A small amount of correspondence between William Setchell and Carl A.  Purpus dated 1911-1938 is also included.  Additional items includes notes; lists of specimens including a list of Purpus Colorado plants from Coulter; a small notebook labeled Account with C. A. Purpus; and a list of determinations for Purpus's collections in T. S. Brandegee's handwriting.
